Featured Comment: A happy ending after 2021 Belgian GP washout | Brief

Spa-Francorchamps, 2021

Liberty Media is offering compensation for fans who bought tickets for the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix and were unable to watch practice after being prevented from sitting in the grandstands.

The same did not happen at the Belgian Grand Prix in 2021, a race Liberty Media did not promote. In that case the race promoter ran a ballot in which a limited number of fans won tickets to the following year’s race. One of our readers was among them:

I was there and after the race I sent an email asking for something in very natural and innocent way, sure nothing would have happened.

I don’t know if it was the fate or because of this mail, but I was one of 250 winners of 2022 race refund tickets the circuit put for the following year. Very very lucky after an unlucky event (but I can say to have seen the shortest ‘race’ ever), but that Sunday my humour was totally opposite. Thank you again Spa.
