The Asian Le Mans Series has announced its 2026-27 season will take place entirely at European circuits.

Since 2021 the series has only raced at the Dubai Autodrome, Yas Marina in the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit. Its upcoming championship will take place at Jerez in Spain, Paul Ricard in France and Autodromo do Algarve in Portugal. The championship will be renamed the ‘Winter Le Mans Series’ as a result.
The change is the latest in a series of alterations to the motorsport calendar which have arisen following the war in the Middle East.
“While moving the Asian Le Mans Series to Europe is not ideal, the situation in the Middle East dictated that we worked to find the best solution,” said series promoter Stephane Ratel. “Between SRO, LMEM and the ACO we have a huge pool of experience to draw on, and the consensus was a Winter Le Mans Series in southern Europe was the most sensible option given the mounting external constraints.”
Formula 1 cancelled its races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia earlier this year. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has indicated the series will race in Europe if its final two rounds in the Middle East cannot go ahead.
