In short:

Adelaide’s Osborne shipyards will see an injection of $4.6 billion as it prepares to build new AUKUS nuclear-powered submarines.

The new shipyards will be 10 times the size of the existing Osborne shipyards, building the navy’s Hunter frigates.

What’s next?

The announcement comes on the sidelines of Labor’s national conference in Adelaide, which is likely to avoid debate over AUKUS.
