District Kudumbashree Mission is all set to serve delicious Onam feasts once again, deploying 83 Café Kudumbashree units with upgraded logistics and tighter quality controls to meet surging demand. The initiative aims to provide high-quality, authentic traditional Onasadya to the public while significantly boosting revenue and long-term market access for local women-led catering ventures.

During the 2025 Onam season, Kollam secured the top spot in Kerala by delivering 22,278 Onasadya orders through 65 participating Café units, generating an impressive revenue of ₹44.50 lakh. Drawing on the operational experience gained from last year’s overwhelming response, the District Mission is executing this year’s drive with enhanced coordination and streamlined delivery mechanisms.

Official distribution of the Onasadya across the district will commence on August 17, with order bookings accepted through a dedicated call center until August 22. To maintain the quality, strict guidelines have been introduced to monitor food taste, hygiene, portion sizes, timely delivery, leaf cleanliness, and eco-friendly packaging. Strict adherence to Green Protocol and food safety standards will be enforced across all participating units.

For 2026, standard Onam feasts feature tiered pricing structure depending on the spread, with an 18-item meal priced at ₹170, a 21-item meal at ₹200, and a 24-item spread at ₹230. During the peak festive days of Uthradam, Thiruvonam, Avittom, and Chathayam, the packages will be offered at revised rates of ₹200, ₹230, and ₹250 respectively. Orders generally require a minimum quantity of 10 meals, featuring free doorstep delivery within a five-kilometer radius, though exceptions on the minimum limit will be made on compassionate grounds for senior citizens and bedridden individuals.

“By elevating customer trust and expanding its footprint, the District Mission aims to turn the annual Onasadya initiative into a permanent, sustainable market link for its catering units. With expanded infrastructure and a larger network of participating cafes, we are fully prepared to scale up our festive market share and set a new benchmark this Onam season,” said officials.
