Monaco Grand Prix stewards to hear Mercedes’ request for review on Saturday | Formula 1
The Monaco Grand Prix stewards will conduct their second Right of Review hearing over the race on Saturday as Mercedes challenges their decision to cancel Pierre Gasly’s penalties.

The stewards promoted Gasly to third place in the race after overturning his two five-second time penalties for pit lane speeding. They did so after accepting the timekeepers failed to measure the pit lane correctly and Gasly’s speed was overestimated.
Mercedes driver George Russell was also penalised for speeding in the pit lane, as were several other drivers, all of which likely fell victim to the same error as Gasly. However Russell’s penalty could not be cancelled as he made a pit stop during the race and should have served it at that point. He received a drive-through penalty as a result, which he was required to serve within three laps, dropping him out of the points positions.
The stewards confirmed they will hold a virtual hearing on Saturday to determine whether Mercedes has produced sufficient new and compelling evidence for the review to go ahead. If they fail to, the review will go no further, and if they do the stewards will reconsider their decision in light of Mercedes’ new evidence.
McLaren has brought a separate appeal against the cancellation of Gasly’s penalties.
The stewards’ statement on Mercedes’ Right of Review request
The stewards received a petition for Review under Article 14.1.1 of the FIA International Sporting Code
from Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team on Friday 12th June 2026 in respect of the decision of the Stewards of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, Documents 99, breach of Article B1.6.3a of the FIA F1 Regulations in relation to Car 10.The team representative is required to report to the stewards on Saturday 20th June 2026, at 09:00 CEST in relation to the above. The hearing will be held virtually via video conference, details of which will be provided by separate communication.

It should be noted that this Hearing will be held in two parts. The first part will be to determine the admissibility of the petition then if admissible, determine if there is “significant and relevant new element which was unavailable to the stewards at the time of the Decision concerned.”
Should the stewards determine, in accordance with Article 14.3 of the FIA International Sporting Code, that such an element exists, a second part of the Hearing will be convened at a time to be advised, in all likelihood shortly after the first part of the Hearing.
Any other “concerned party” may seek the permission of the stewards to appear.
