Red Bull has called up Liam Lawson from its junior team Racing Bulls to take Hadjar’s place. Lawson started two grands prix for Red Bull at the beginning of last season before being dropped.

Racing Bulls will replace Lawson by calling up Yuki Tsunoda, who drove for the team between 2021 and 2025, during which time it competed as AlphaTauri and RB. Red Bull dropped Tsunoda from its racing line-up at the end of last year but kept him on as a reserve driver.

Red Bull gave no further details on the nature of Hadjar’s injury or whether it is likely to prevent him from participating in any future races. The team stated only that Hadjar “has sustained a wrist injury during summer shutdown that will prevent him from racing at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix.”

“The team wishes Isack a speedy recovery and thanks Liam for stepping in on short notice,” it added.

Hadjar previously revealed a special helmet design for this weekend’s race intended to mark his first podium finish in last year’s grand prix.

Coincidentally, Lawson made his Formula 1 debut at the same grand prix three years earlier after Daniel Ricciardo broke his wrist in a crash during practice. On that occasion Lawson entered five rounds for the team before Ricciardo was able to return. There is a two-week gap between this weekend’s round and the next at Monza in Italy.
