The Visakhapatnam District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organised a legal awareness campaign on the court premises on Saturday, focusing on the effective implementation of legal services for persons with mental illness and intellectual disabilities and poverty alleviation welfare schemes.

Principal District and Sessions Judge and DLSA Chairman G. Srinivas spearheaded the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Srinivas stressed the importance of public awareness in ensuring that government welfare schemes reached marginalised sections. He appreciated the multi-departmental exhibition stalls for providing direct access to information on legal services and government support.

Assistive devices, including wheelchairs and hearing aids, were distributed to eligible beneficiaries as part of the outreach programme.

First Additional District and Sessions Judge M. Venkata Ramana, Visakhapatnam Bar Association president Nammi Sanyasi Rao, Bar Council members N. Krishna Mohan, B.V. Murthy and K.L.D. Nagamani, and officials from the women and child welfare, differently-abled welfare, police and medical departments participated in the programme. Judicial officers, panel advocates and Para-Legal Volunteers also attended.
