‘Reigning Formula 3 champion and current Formula 2 rookie Rafael Camara made his F1 debut in the Ferrari SF-25 at the Hungaroring on Thursday! A big step on the road to F1 for the Brazilian.’
News and quotes top qualifying three (Nuerburgring 24 Hours)
‘Top qualifying three delivered drama right to the final seconds. Team Abt sprang a surprise to lock out the front row. Christopher Haase in the Scherer Sport Audi R8 #16 was the last driver across the line and snatched third place. Daniel Juncadella in the Verstappen Mercedes-AMG GT3 claimed fourth, while Thomas Preining in the Manthey Porsche #911 lost crucial time after a minor off-track moment and had to settle for eighth.’
Alpine Formula 1 team is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Somerville as deputy technical director as the team continues to strengthen its technical leadership group (Alpine)
‘It marks a return to Enstone for Jason, who was a key member in the Aerodynamics Department between 2010 and 2011. He first worked in Formula One in 1999 with Williams before joining Toyota Racing in 2003, where he rose through the ranks to become Deputy Head of Aerodynamics.’
Jake Humphrey: ‘Once I interviewed a driver, who I shouldn’t name, at the end of the season, and I said to him we’re just going to have a chat about the season, a review of the season conversation. And he went ‘I’ve spoken about the season all season, can we talk about something else?’ And I said, ‘well, it’s for the BBC’s end-of-year review show, so we need to review the season on the review show’. And he went: ‘At least I’m getting paid.’ I said: ‘Well, we’re both getting paid, aren’t we? This is my job and it’s also your job. He goes: ‘no, no, you don’t understand me – I’m getting paid. You’re not getting paid’. So I said, you know what, I don’t think that’s acceptable. There’s always a press office with them, I said when he wants to apologise for that belittling comment, great, we’ll do the interview. That’s rare for a journalist or a presenter to do with the drivers because there’s a real power dynamic. And actually, to give him his credit, a few minutes later, the driver came over and went: ‘I’m really sorry, it was unacceptable, I didn’t mean what I’d said’.’
Legge not sweating the logistics of Indy/Charlotte double (Racer)
”I’ve also stressed how important it is to get every single lap of practice, so we can’t be late on Saturday, even though we have to do the autograph session and the driver’s meeting and everything here (in Indianapolis) first,’ Legge said. ‘So, I’m like, ‘Can we get a faster plane?’ There is a golf cart organised to go to the helicopter to go to the plane. We’re not flying out of Indy main airport; we’re flying out of Zionsville, I think, because they say we’ll get ground clearance quicker.”
