Mercedes-AMG claims its first 24h Nuerburgring victory in ten years (Nuerburgring 24 Hours)
‘It was a landmark moment in the Eifel as Mercedes-AMG claimed victory in the ADAC 24h Nuerburgring for the first time in a decade. Maro Engel, who was also part of the marque’s most recent triumph in 2016, celebrated his second overall win in the ‘Green Hell’ aboard the Mercedes-AMG number 80, alongside team-mates Luca Stolz, Fabian Schiller and Maxime Martin. Until just under three and a half hours before the chequered flag, Formula 1 superstar Max Verstappen looked set for victory on his first-ever 24h Nuerburgring appearance, before a driveshaft failure brought his Verstappen Mercedes-AMG number three to a premature end. Over the four days, a record-breaking 352,000 spectators attended the event, creating an extraordinary atmosphere both on and off the track.’
Reigning winner Palou claims second career ‘500’ pole (IndyCar)
‘Joining Palou on the front row for the 110th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 24 are Alexander Rossi in the number 20 Chevrolet of Ed Carpenter Racing (231.990) and David Malukas in the number 12 Penske Chevrolet (231.877).’
How Mini and Camara kept Miami F2 results despite infringements (Formula Scout)
‘The stewards said that teams had been informed by turn 17 that drivers were to head through the pitlane, with the final two light panels at the side of the track illuminated to show this. They also said that race leader Maini was approximately 50 metres away from the first of these panels as the message was conveyed to drivers. Despite this, they opted to give Camara a warning instead of a time penalty, their reasoning being “no driver benefited nor was harmed”.’

‘We’ve got a TV partner (Fox) who knows how important that emotional moment is to the sport and and it’s disappointing this year that we’re at 33, but we didn’t know that Prema Racing wasn’t going to answer the bell, and obviously, with the F2 rescheduling thing, we lost Colton Herta. So there’s three cars right there, and that would have put us at 35 or 36. I don’t know for sure that the Katherine Legge program (with HMD Motorsports/AJ Foyt Racing) would have actually come together as it did if all that hadn’t happened.’
